Specimens are sent to the laboratory daily Monday to Friday. If you are asked to bring a specimen on those days please ensure that we receive it before 12 noon. Similarly, if you are asked to have a blood test, it is necessary for this to be done in the mornings, or we now advise patients to go to the Blood Taking Unit at The Northampton General Hospital, who have a drop in clinic Monday to Friday 7.00am to 4.00pm & Saturdays 7.30am to 12.00 midday.
To obtain these results of any investigations please telephone the surgery four days after you have had your tests after 11.00am. We do not normally ring patients with their test results (though you will be made aware of any abnormal results which require action). To protect confidentiality we are unable to give test results to anyone other than the patient. The only exception is where the patient is under 16 and written consent has been granted by that patient. All callers will be asked a few simple questions to determine their identity to ensure that information is only given to the right people. Don't be alarmed if on ringing for a result you are asked to speak to a doctor or to make another appointment.
