What is a Cancer Care Champion?
A Cancer Care Champion is a specially trained team member who offers guidance, emotional support and practical assistance to patients diagnosed with cancer and their carers. Suzanne’s role involves:
- Helping patients and carers understand and access available resources.
- Offering a listening ear and emotional support during a challenging time.
- Acting as a point of contact for any cancer-related queries.
Our aim is to ensure that you feel supported every step of the way, with someone to turn to for help and advice.
Meet Suzanne
Suzanne, our Cancer Care Champion, has completed specialised training through the Northampton University Cancer Care Champion Course. This training has equipped her with the knowledge and skills to assist patients with compassion and professionalism.
Suzanne is available during her dedicated admin time on Wednesday afternoons to focus on her role as Cancer Care Champion.
Hot to Get in Touch
If you or someone you care for has recently been diagnosed with cancer and you'd like support, there are two ways to reach Suzanne:
- Email: suzanne.purdy@nhs.net include 'Cancer' in the subject line to ensure your message is prioritised.
- Fill out a Request for Support Form: These forms are available at reception. Simply complete one and hand it back to the reception team for Suzanne's attention.

- Patients who have recently recieved a cancer diagnosis.
- Carers who support someone with a cancer diagnosis
This service is here to provide guidance and understanding at a time when it's needed most.
